How to Use Morning Journal Prompts Effectively

Now that you have the tools that you need to start an effective morning journaling practice, here’s how you can make sure that it works!

Trust me when I say that journaling doesn’t work unless you adopt best practices - and here are a few of my favourites!

Make it a Habit

Consistency is key. Try to write in your journal every morning, even if it’s just for five minutes. Set a time—perhaps while sipping your first cup of tea—and stick to it. Before long, it’ll become as natural as brushing your teeth.

The more you do it, the more effective it will become. I found that I didn’t start truly noticing the impact of journaling until about 2 weeks into consistent practice.

Don’t Rush Yourself

Morning journaling should feel calming and enjoyable, not like a chore. Take your time with each prompt and really let your thoughts flow. If that means writing fewer prompts but in more depth, that’s perfectly fine.

On busy days, I set my alarm 5 minutes earlier so that I have time to journal without feeling rushed. This simple trick ensures that I stick to it, no matter what,
