I Tried the 'Glass Skin' Routine for 30 Days: Here's What Actually Worked

Glass skin has been all over my For You page for months, that Korean skincare thing where skin looks so smooth and hydrated it basically reflects light. I gave myself 30 days and a strict routine to see if it was actually achievable or just good lighting and a ring light. Here's exactly what I used and what actually moved the needle.
Step 1: Beauty of Joseon Rice Water Bright Cleansing Foam (from $16)
I started every single day with this cleanser and it set the tone for the whole routine. It's gentle enough for morning use but still gets rid of any oil buildup overnight.
Rice water is supposed to brighten skin over time, and while I can't say I noticed a dramatic difference from the cleanser alone, my skin never felt stripped, which matters more than people think. It also smells really nice, which made the whole routine feel less like a chore.
Step 2: Anua Heartleaf 77% Soothing Toner (from $21)
This toner is the internet's current obsession and I get why. It calmed down some redness I get around my nose within about a week. I patted it in with my hands instead of a cotton pad because that wastes way less product.
If your skin gets irritated easily, this is a really gentle place to start layering actives, and it made every product I applied after it absorb a little better too.
Step 3: COSRX Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence ($19)
Honestly this is the MVP of the whole 30 days. This essence is the closest thing I found to an instant glow up in a bottle. My skin looked visibly plumper and bouncier within the first two weeks. It's sticky for a minute after you apply it but that goes away fast.
If I could only keep one product from this whole routine, it's this one, and I've already repurchased it twice since the challenge ended.
Step 4: Torriden DIVE-IN Low Molecule Hyaluronic Acid Serum (from $20)
Layered right after the essence, this serum is all about hydration in multiple molecule sizes, which basically means it soaks in deeper instead of just sitting on top of your skin. This is where the actual glass skin look started to show up for me, around day 12 or so.
Skip this if your skin already feels dewy enough, it might be too much hydration on top of everything else, and on humid days I actually did skip it without missing much.
Step 5: Beauty of Joseon Glow Serum: Propolis + Niacinamide (from $18)
This one is exactly what it sounds like, a glow serum, and it delivers. The niacinamide helps with tone and the propolis adds this soft dewiness that photographs so well. I used it mostly at night since it's a touch sticky, but it's genuinely one of the best value products in this whole routine and the bottle is huge for the price.
Step 6: Laneige Water Sleeping Mask (from $29)
This was my one splurge product and I only used it two or three nights a week. It's a thicker gel mask you sleep in, and I always woke up with noticeably plumper, softer skin the next morning.
It's pricier than everything else on this list but a little goes a long way, so one jar lasted way longer than I expected, probably three or four months at the rate I used it.
Step 7: Beauty of Joseon Relief Sun: Rice + Probiotics SPF50 (from $18)
No glow up routine works without sunscreen and this one doesn't leave that annoying white cast or greasy finish. It actually made my skin look more radiant under makeup, not less.
If you skip every other step on this list, please do not skip this one, since the whole point of the routine falls apart if you're undoing it with sun damage.
So, did it actually work?
By day 30 my skin genuinely looked smoother, plumper, and more even toned, especially in photos. Was it full on glass skin like the Korean skincare influencers? Not quite, my pores are still visible up close and that's fine, that's just skin. But the hydration and glow difference was real and noticeable to people who saw me in person, which is honestly all I wanted.
My skin also felt way less reactive by the end, breakouts calmed down and redness faded faster than usual.
The total cost for all seven products came out to around $141, which sounds like a lot upfront but most of these bottles will last two to three months, so it's not as bad as it looks. If you want to try this yourself, start with just the cleanser, essence, and moisturizer before adding everything else in, then build up slowly over a couple weeks so you can actually tell what is working. I also kept my old products around instead of throwing them out, just in case my skin reacted badly to something new, and honestly that made the whole month feel a lot less stressful. Let me know if you try the routine, I really want to hear how it goes for your skin.
